Oh you're not a brother? Sorry, it's what I get for assuming. :)
Anyhow, I've always found it amusing how outsiders think they know more about the fraternity than the members themselves. We're certainly not ruling the world, if we were then I think things would be a bit more peaceful. We're...
How are you instructed to handle them in your lectures?
I'm pretty active on my Facebook in some Masonic circles but I haven't gotten any flak for it. In person, however, I like to be more discreet. :)
No, no, I was riding with my host teacher. I'm kind of like an intern right now and I'm a guest in her classroom, I don't see any benefit in bringing anything up that may make me unwelcomed. I'm just saying discretion has done me more good than harm. :)
I'm sorry you're having a hard time brother.
This is why I don't wear any of the bling or advertise my membership indiscriminately. I've found that, sadly, the lodge can close more doors than it opens in the profane world. In fact, I was riding in Waco with my host teacher (I'm a student...
Believe it or not, that would fly just fine in my little part of Texas...I've seen just about everything in the lodge but sweat pants but hey, I'm still young and society isn't getting much fancier.
What's the most disturbing to me is I have to wonder how the quality of their initiatic...
True, I didn't think about that but I don't expect certain brethren to hop up and down if they have difficulty with it. I think the GM would understand. :)
I'm not too worried about what's available to the public. To be honest, there's so much misinformation out there that it's very difficult for the uninitiated to separate fact from fiction.
Hello companions.
With all this talk about table lodges recently I've started to wonder if anyone has heard of table lodges in a Chapter or Council? I can't find much info about it online but I'm not sure that doesn't mean they don't exist. Just tossing out the question.
Mouth to ear, I'm traditional like that. There are circumstances where I can see the need to exceptions to this but I'd hate to see people become over-reliant on them for their memory work.
This applies to learning the ritual as well. Chapter and Council has suffered terribly from this...
My advice would be to try and learn at least one of the prayers.
Something our chaplin does this year is to read a little bit from the Bible each stated meeting. Mostly stuff related to the Ark of the Covenant or King Solomon's Temple.
I wish I had known that it was something that we could do in this jurisdiction all along. To be honest, I never saw any references to table lodges in the law book or monitor so that led me to believe it was just something nobody did and wasn't accepted.
Where could I find this table lodge...
Ha ha, ya if I new someone was using a cipher book before turning in his MM proficiency I'd probably throttle him.
A shot might help...depends on how big a shot glass you use though. :)
It takes time. Don't rush their investigation and definitely don't be in a hurry to put on a degree. Make the candidate visit lodge on a regular basis (at least on stated meeting nights) have him meet the other brothers and let him wait a bit as a token of his sincerity. If their intentions...
