I agree that it's tricky and I've wondered what I'd do if I were in the same position. I know I wouldn't vote if I couldn't vote my conscious, even if my vote wouldn't make a difference.

Or we could allow lodges to do what they feel works best for them and not force anyone into doing anything against their will?
Having an online presence is nice but I've found that it's impact has been pretty minimal so far, we've certainly...
I haven't served as secretary myself but I know enough to suggest that you take your significant other on a vacation or something nice before you're installed because you're going to be a very busy fellow. :)
I was at a meeting where they had to take the cubes out of the EoS box so there was enough cubes for everyone to vote with. It was interesting to say the least.
I feel if the investigation committee does their job then we can keep certain types out.
I currently attend Western Governors University (WGU) where I'm finishing up my bachelors.
It's a great college and tuition is very affordable. (2-3k a semester)
I've felt this way multiple times at my lodge as well but in the end it's something I'm passionate about. Quality over quantity flies in the face of the culture of many lodges so it's an uphill battle but I think it's one that's well worth it.
True but the degree nights are for the candidates first and foremost. If you think long form is too much info then I understand. I would say if you don't feel that way though then don't shortchange the candidate on the account if a vocal minority.
I think affordability doesn't have much to do with size. There's a small lodge nearby that is nearly bankrupt and I know of at least one massive lodge that isn't sustainable either.
I have no experience being a member of a large lodge but I can tell you that I think I prefer small lodges...
Actually, stated meetings used to always be opened in the first but it was changed like 150 years ago or so. There's a good article on this somewhere on the net I'll try to dig up sometime when I'm home. My point though, is that allowing meetings to be opened on the first is more a return to...
Well, if it's true then I personally don't feel he should be a mason. If he can't follow his marriage obligations then that leaves his integrity in question IMO.

So our numbers are returning to their pre-ww2 averages? (Taking population changes into account)
I wonder if our pre-ww2 brothers were as worried about numbers as so many of us are today?
Given the scenario? No, I'd keep them out.
My reasoning is that there's no guarantee that they'll stick around and stay active enough to keep the lodge open anyhow. Not only that but I've found that negative people are very poisonous to a lodge so even if they -did- stick around they'd...
Fraternities used to be all the rage.
I'd politely suggest that you might provide more info upfront if you want much of a response. What is the purpose of your new fraternity? What are it's goals? How does it go about them? What's good about it? etc.
Re: Membership and participation in Freemasonry to
I'll be honest, if we start inviting people to join then I'll probably demit.
A man has to decide, on his own, that he wishes to become a better person and take the next step. There's something very powerful about that and it's woven very...
Well, we know that retention from ODCs are about the same as more commonly accepted route...so there's no difference in that aspect aside from the fact that we've made it quick and easy at the cost of cheapening the craft.
What about men who want to join but don't have the time to receive the...
