We have several law enforcement officers that our members of our lodge that carry concealed firearms. It may not be allowed in the near future but I personally don't see any harm in it if the brother is an officer.
Who knows? I heard a similar tale that he placed his hand in his coat because he had appendix (sp?) problems. I don't think anyone knows for sure.
What they did to the S&C just seems wrong to me but the entire concept strikes me as utterly disrespectful to the craft.
I had to work hard to complete all my work for each degree so I could finally wear Masonic regalia but now every gangster/rapper wannabe will be wearing the S&C.
I'm not alarmed at all, Freemasonry is still the same regardless of how many people practice it, be it 100 or 100,000 people. Honestly, I'm probably a minority here, I'd rather see membership dip to low numbers rather than cheapen the craft for everyone by having one day journies.
Masonry is...
It's about quality of membership, not quantity. People keep mentioning declining membership as though it signals the end of masonry but I don't feel that's the case at all.
Out of 1.937 candidates, I wonder how many of them will actually be active? I'm also curious how you are supposed to...
That's very new information to me! I was always under the impression you had to undergo the degree again if you took too long to turn in your proficiency.
I always thought that was sort of the 'penalty' (for lack of a better word) for exceeding the time limit. If that's not the case then...
I've read and heard about it standing for a few things, God, geometry, and Grand Architect Of The Universe...though the last one may be a little bit of a stretch.
I know some people who have taken too long for their proficiency and haven't come back when they were finally able to again because they didn't want to go through the EA degree again.
Why should they have to anyhow? They can be taught everything they forgot and be reminded of their...
No. I've known many brothers that I've consider good friends but I wouldn't nominate or vote to go into the East. I also know/heard of past masters who sat in the East simply because progression put them there and it was a bad year because of it.
Masonry isn't for everyone, that's a given...
I picked 21 as a general rule but I really think it should be on a case by case basis. If the investigating committee thinks the petitioner is mature enough and will have time to devote the the fraternity then I don't see any harm in it.
I watch Netflicks almost all the time. My parents pay 40 bucks or so for satellite every month and whenever I visit them I always notice they have 200+ channels with nothing I want to watch...and the few shows worth my time are more commercial than show.
I cant fathom spending that much...
A year or so ago we re-acquired most of our lodges history that was presumed to be lost. Our lodge is 150 years old tomorrow and these minutes managed to stand the test of time as well as two fires.
If anyone is interested in having a read, we posted the more interesting points of our...
My opinion is by the time a brother becomes Worshipful Master he should be proficient enough in the work to obtain a certificate anyhow. I don't think it should be required...but assuming a lodge is electing the most capable brother that's eligible I would hope that means the WM elect would be...
Re: San Gabriel 89
We've just finished making a lot of changes to our lodge room so I thought I'd share some pictures with you gentlemen.
These are before and after pictures taken from the three chairs. I unfortunately don't have any pictures of the lodge room before we installed the...
If it isn't broke, there's nothing to fix. Making changes in the name of 'progress' when things are already fine will ultimately do more harm than good.
I'm a young mason (younger than 30) and I see no problem with the way things are. I'd never vote for changes like you're suggesting and if...
Freemasonry is a fraternity, meaning it's for gentlemen only. Women have their options, such as Eastern Star, so I don't really see why they couldn't support that instead of joining a blue lodge.
Sure we could change our obligations and allow women in but what about those of us who have...
