    Apron opinions?

Dare to be different. Start a new tradition.

    Master Craftsman

Does your Scottish Rite Valley confer more than the 5 "obligatory" degrees, and does it do so over more than one "reunion" weekend? If so, getting the Master Craftsman program and completing the appropriate sections as you go along will be a very meaningful learning experience for you. If it's...

    Mormonism and Freemasonry

I once chatted with a Mormon at work about this subject. We both tiptoed around a lot of subjects so as not to reveal anything that we weren't supposed to, but at least in his day (he was an older gentleman, no longer in the LDS Church) it seems there was a lot of "similarities." After all...

    Can a Non-Christian become a Mason?

    Nor should they.

Cornerstone for new Grand Lodge building

This morning we dedicated the cornerstone for our new Grand Lodge Heritage Center, which will contain our museum, an auditorium, and a lodge room. A great day. I'm at the very far right.

    Apron opinions?

I certainly respect your right to a personal preference, but historically the pile of cloth aprons at the tyler's station is a relatively recent, and American, aberration. Before the industrial revolution era, when mass-produced cloth aprons were available for little cost (or often thrown in for...

    Apron opinions?

A lot of Grand Lodges reserve gold and purple for GL. Here's my PM apron; I also have a MM apron that's identical except a regular S&C instead of the PM symbol.

    Appropriate or not??

Sure, why not? I have a separate email account just for my Masonic business, and have a signature block that automatically appends itself, much like the signature block that will appear under this post.

How far apart are you lodges?

In rural Minnesota, it's often much more than 11 miles between lodges, because it's much more than 11 miles between towns of any size. The closest to my lodge is probably 13-14 miles, and then it gets much further to the next closest.

    Slide Show During the Lectures

England uses a cube as the perfect ashlar. In America, and smooth stone roughly twice the length as height and depth is most common. Our rough and perfect ashlars in my lodge are 6" X 6" X 12"

    That's not a term I'm familiar with.

    Chapter ring

Most days I wear a S&C ring. Some days I wear my 14° Scottish Rite ring; almost nobody outside of the craft would know what it is.

Minnesota puts the Masonic Code on the Grand Lodge website in PDF.

    Florida Presenting English Certificates?

The UGLE is not the "highest authority." While, due to its status as the mother Grand Lodge, it's given considerable deference in matters of recognition between Grand Lodges and so forth, it has no actual authority over any Lodges other than its own, and certainly none over any other Grand...

Purchasing and wearing your own apron.

This has been a minor peeve of mine. In most countries, a Master Mason is EXPECTED to have his own apron. The lodges have few, if any, loaner aprons for Master Masons. I wish it would become general practice here in the U.S. for brothers to show a little pride and buy a decent apron to wear...

    Ham radio?

Yeah, I did all my license testing at the FCC office in Chicago (other than my original novice, which was the one-year, non-renewable novice which could be administered by one general class or higher licensee.) I got my extra when it still required 20 WPM code, which I solid copied for the full...

Temple Mount Not the Location of Somomon's Temple?

    Ham radio?

Me too. I had a novice license when it was the one-year, non-renewable, "up or out" license. It expired. Some years later, I got another novice, then within a year had a general, advanced, and finally Extra. The novice and advanced license classes no longer exist. KB9RM

Getting weird vibes at first meeting.

Around here, once or twice a month is more routine.

    Ham radio?

I was first licensed in 1962. I recently got back active after over 20 years of just occasional VHF/UHF FM operation. I have an Extra Class license and am a CW only guy on HF.
