    State-wide open house in Maryland , April 2, 2011

I just learned that Maryland has a long-term project, "Project 2025", which has a goal of having 25,000 active Masons in Maryland. I am very interested in seeing how this works out.

What would you like to see changed in Masonry?

Here is a statement from Thomas Jefferson (NOT a Freemason) "I am not an advocate for frequent changes in laws and constitutions. But laws and institutions must go hand in hand with the progress of the human mind. As that becomes more developed, more enlightened, as new discoveries are made...

    State-wide open house in Maryland , April 2, 2011

(I am neither promoting nor endorsing this event. The Grand Lodge of Maryland is the sole promoter) Here is an announcement from the Grand Secretary, Grand Lodge of Maryland, F&AM: Every Lodge in Maryland will be open on April 2nd from 10am – 5pm. You can visit our website...

Dual/plural memberships. Should Masons be able to join multiple lodges?

You need not leave a lodge, if the policies and procedures are in need of upgrade or change. Individual lodges are run by majority vote. If there is a policy that needs to be retired, introduce a motion, to have it retired. If there is a policy that your lodge needs to initiate, then introduce a...

Dual/plural memberships. Should Masons be able to join multiple lodges?

I think the situation with respect to dual/plural memberships, all boils down to one of trust. Will Grand Lodges, be able to trust their members, to decide how many lodges, they can support? In our mobile society, with people moving frequently, the concept of belonging to one lodge only, is a...

Which appendant bodies do you belong to?

I took the class, to become a DeMolay advisor. I had to drop out, when I was sent to Iraq. When I finish my overseas work, I would like to serve as an adult advisor. It may be some time, before I can. I would encourage any MM, who wants to work with young men, to consider serving as a DeMolay...

    Completing the petition

You need not be concerned, that you do not have any long-term acquaintaces that are Masons. In our highly mobile society, your situation happens frequently. I would encourage you to continue to attend the events that the lodges in your area are hosting. You should be prepared to provide the...

What would you like to see changed in Masonry?

There is one thing, that I would really like to see done in Masonry. We need to have the courage and fortitude, to discuss our problems, openly, before the whole world. Masonry is not a secret society. We have many problems in Masonry. The advancing age of our membership, and the declining...

    Lodges and CHL

Forgive a person who is not from Texas. (I do have an ex-wife in El Paso, but that does not make me a Texan). What exactly is "CHL" ? I gather it has something to do with weapons, which are very important in the Lone Star State.

    Freemasons For Dummies

I read it some years ago. It is an excellent introduction for a beginner, and a good review for any Mason. My highest recommendation.

Dual/plural memberships. Should Masons be able to join multiple lodges?

I read a message from a Mason in California. The GL of California, permits their members, to join as many lodges as "their checkbook can handle". I like this policy. Grand Lodges should trust their members, to join lodges in state, and out of state, as they choose. When I lived in Ohio (1990), I...

    Help with Time.

Reading you loud and clear. I work 7pm to 7am 7 days a week. Fortunately, I can trade a shift sometimes, and attend a meeting. You might check in your community, if there is a "daylight" lodge, you can attend. If there is no such lodge, see about starting one.

Dual/plural memberships. Should Masons be able to join multiple lodges?

The poll (so far) shows 10 out of 10. While you cannot apply the results of 10 Masons to the entire USA population of 1.4 million Masons, 100% is not bad!

Dual/plural memberships. Should Masons be able to join multiple lodges?

I think it is wonderful, that Masons in Texas (and other states) view their responsibilites this way. Your committment to Masonry does NOT end with your "home" lodge. While supporting your home lodge is important, you can labor in any lodge's quarries. Many smaller lodges rely on nearby lodges...

What would you like to see changed in Masonry?

My lodge has over 420 members. If 15 men show up for a meeting, that is a crowd. A higher attendance, is a change (a good change!) . How would you make this change occur? Could you make this change, without making any changes? "We live in a world, in which the only constant is change"...

Dual/plural memberships. Should Masons be able to join multiple lodges?

It is not question of "benefit". It is more of a "tradition". You see, 100 years ago, most people never traveled more than 100 miles from where they were born. Some states (ex: West Virginia) crafted rules, that require that their members are permitted to join only one(1) lodge. If you apply for...

Will You have a Masonic Funeral?

I have requested that my family will request the local lodge to have the Beautiful Rites (Masonic Funeral). I have requested to be an organ donor. My last remains will be cremated.

Dual/plural memberships. Should Masons be able to join multiple lodges?

Some Grand Lodges permit their members to join only one lodge. Some Grand Lodges permit their members to join one lodge in their state, and multiple lodges out of state. Some Grand Lodges, permit their members to join as many lodges as their checkbook can handle. What do YOU think? Should...

What would you like to see changed in Masonry?

If I had 50c, for every time I have heard "We never did it that way before", I could retire. Reminds me of the old saying "You can always tell a pioneer, they have arrows in their backs".
