In my experience, the initiation fees are the same, whether you get them all in a festival, or do them one at a time. In the festivals, however, you tend to get the "short form" of the degrees, so I would prefer to go one-at-a time, as the real beauty of YR is in the degrees and the lessons...
I am still fairly active in the Chapter, but work schedules, and being put into the line at blue lodge has impacted my ability to do very much over the past year or so. I actually belong to 2 chapters as a plural member, one meets on Monday evening once a month and I have been able to...
I went to eBay a couple of years ago and bought a case for my traveling aprons... and got one something like this for $65:

The prices seem to have gone up a...
Bill Clinton, being an Arkansas senior DeMolay, used to hint around a bit about wanting to be made a Mason. However, Arkansas has about the same rule about making Masons-at-sight as do our neighbors in Texas:
"2.2.11 In Arkansas, we have enough Lodges to work up all of our material and the...
President-elect William H. Taft, Generals George Marshall and Douglas MacArthur, Milton Eisenhower (brother of President Eisenhower), Astronaut Walter Schirra, Admiral John C. McCain, actors Danny Thomas and Richard Dreyfuss, and NBA player Shaquille O'Neal are all members who were made Masons...
Arkansas is different, in that the Tyler is always outside. The Junior Deacon is sent to mak sure he's out there, and close the door. The JD answers the questions otherwise asked of the Tyler.
I joined the York Rite the summer after getting my master's, and worked my way through the various bodies between August and October. I waited even longer before going into the Scottish Rite. Having tried to read some of Pike's writings, I didn't think I would like it, and probably would not...
Here (AR), you are presented with your lambskin apron when you are initiated as an EA. When I was initiated (Feb 2011) I took it home with me, but shortly afterward it became a custom for the lodge to hold and set aside your apron ( as well as the coin used) in your file, and give it back to...
It takes a certain number of members to open the lodge in any particular degree, at least one of whom must be the master or one of the wardens.
Likewise, for the degree work it takes X number of brethren who know and can perform the Work. At the far end, it takes 22 brothers to put on the...
I confess to being a bit of a fan of special aprons myself... Probably the first bit of Masonic bling that I got for myself was one of the old, rounded colonial-style aprons for use when traveling... After a couple of months, especially when to some of the smaller lodges where they ran out of...
It's a subtle transition from the closing charge to benediction. I uncover at the mention of Deity: "... and may the G... " and recover after "Amen - So mote it be." Then the questions to the Wardens, and uncover again at "... may the blessing..." Hat back on after "So mote it be." Hat...
We've followed up with brothers who have taken up to 30 years from their EA or FC degree to come back and finish their journey. Your old Grand Lodge should still have records where you were initiated and passed. Find a local lodge where you feel comfortable, and petition them. If you're now...
We do a criminal background check, and also send out the investigation committee to meet with the petitioner and his family, if possible. It's not only a quick check on the new candidate, but also a time for him to be able to ask any questions that may be on his mind, as well as for his family...
The banner of the Knights Templar was the "Beauseant"... a square banner where the top half was black, and the bottom half white. Among the symbolists, it is generally accepted that the banner reflects the duality of the world. There is a dark, evil, and bitterly frightening side; yet, there...
Arkansas' system issues four cards: "Certified Lecturer," (white) which covers the questions and answers for the three proficiency Q&As; "Lodge Officer Proficiency" (white), which covers all parts and stations, plus the floor work for opening & closing the lodge in all degrees, plus dispensing...
Having attained my Blue Card certification as an instructor, I'm currently working on my "Red Card" proficiency for the 2nd Section of the Master's degree in order to "collect the whole set." Just like with the other work, I start at the beginning with every part, and work my way forward...
You will not find Freemasonry in books, on the Internet, the History Channel, or in conspiracy theories. You find it in the hearts and actions of your brethren, in the lodge, as you continually seek and acquire more light. Find a lodge in your community, drop in and visit with them, and ask...
