I have been thinking about this all weekend. Still don't have a real, solid answer.
In my EA, I was clueless about the entire thing, so the whole night I was in awe of the degree and I was thrilled to finally be in Lodge with my dad.
By the time I went through my FC, I had made some good...
We made it through the graded MM degree last night. I was the MoC and I only cost us one point with a forgotten word. A Brother was helping me review my part just before the degree, when he realized I had left out one word during my practice. We went over it another time or two, hoping it...
I did. And I'll be back at Lodge to see one put on Monday Night. Watching each degree has helped me really absorb what I have just undertaken.
Actually on Monday I'll be the MOC in a graded MM degree. So I have a lot of practice to get through before Monday.
Thursday night I'll finally be raised as a MM at Round Rock Lodge, 227.
It is about time, I think. I planned to do this about 10 or 12 years ago, but life got busy. Last January I finally decided to MAKE time to join the Lodge. And even though my dad has been a Mason for more than 30 years...
Nice!
When I was a kid we had a neighbor who was a nervous old lady. But she had trained her little dainty Maltese dog, Fluffy to growl like a pit bull if she ever called her "Killer".
If she was worried that someone was in the yard or messing with her car, we would hear "Get 'em Killer!"...
I couldn't agree more. I am still an FC, so I won't speak to the effectiveness of the meetings of my Lodge. I haven't been to enough to form an opinion.
A few weeks ago, we had the DDGM's official visit. Since they had to open in Master's, I knew I wouldn't be going into the Lodge Room...
A neighbor told me "Well I thought the Masons were all secretive and involved in good conspiracies. But if they'll let you in, then I don't know... Must not be that important!"
There is a cemetery in North Austin/Pflugerville that has monuments set-up in the shape of an outdoor Lodge Room. Stations, altar, the works. I'll have to swing by and snap some pictures.
Though I grew up with Dad being active in his Lodge and my Mom supporting him fully, the end of your story is similar to mine. While my Dad was spending a few days down here, making arrangements for my grandma's funeral, I started talking to him about finally turning in a petition.
By the...
Man that sounds cool! Several guys at Lodge have talked about these outdoor degrees, but I don't know if any have actually been to one.
I'll have been a MM for a couple of months by then, might have to take a ride out there.
My Dad has been a Mason since I was a little kid. He drug me around to Masonic events all over North Texas until I was in High School and I decided that I could find something more fun to do.
About a dozen years or so ago I asked Dad for a petition. I got all of the paperwork completed...
