Let me suggest then that you start with two books, Freemasonry for Dummies and Idiots Guide to Freemasonry. Those recommendations are not meant disrespectfully. I know both authors and they are worthwhile to give you a basic understanding of the fraternity.

It would be more accurate to say it is the motto of the Supreme Council, 33° Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, rather than just the 33°.
The 33° is not honorary degree in the SJ. The 33° is a substantive degree with an obligation.
