Question 1 - I've never seen it be a problem at our lodge. Go to the dinners before eat lodge meeting for a while and get to know some folks. BTW, you most likely do know some Masons but aren't aware of it.
Question 2 - It will be a little inconvenient during your degree work but not a major...
I received the Scottish Rite degrees in the Valley of Houston at Holland #1 this weekend. I had a great time. I had meant to do it last year but scheduling didn't work out. I should have done this many years ago!
What degrees are typically done? Do most folks just do one reunion?
In other words, are all the "required" degrees done in just one weekend? ie., you go in a master mason and come out a 32nd? I'm a little confused about the process.
I'm considering petitioning the Scottish Rite and going to the Houston reunion in September. However, I've got a question about degrees. Would all of my degrees from 4th to 32nd be done at that one reunion?
I just realized that I left out one final important update on my thread. I turned in my memory work recently for the master mason degree. So I've completed this little thread from beginning to end!
I can tell you that EVERY "mouth to ear" person has their own version of the "correct" version of things. I worked with a number of Masons in the memory work for all three degrees and every one of them was different from the other one. An official code book is very much needed. When, where...
I leave mine in the car. Actually, I'm not much of a cell phone person. My AVERAGE cellphone bill has been $10 per month for several years. (I use prepaid.) I just use a few minutes per month.
I had another study session right before lodge and went in and turned it in. I think I did pretty well. I got my proficiency approved and a date of April 7 set for my MM.
