The Woman Burned by McDonald's Hot Coffee

What she did was idiocy. She put the cup of hot between her legs and stopped paying attention to it as she drove away. In that situation all it took to press the top open was a small leg movement like pushing the brake. Inevitable given where she put the cup. She was far from being in the...

Light of Masonry Reaching the Darkest Corners

Go ahead and ask as long as you understand that the effort is not yours and neither is the authority. Ask and ye shall receive. With all of the international travel these days there are bound to be a number of brothers in a large city near you. If you figure out where they are you could...

    I.o.o.f

When I decided to join an order I spent several days writing names onto a list. Any order whose name I didn't write down I didn't investigate. I'd heard of the Odd Fellows in the past but didn't think of them during those several days so I didn't consider them. I've met several Odd Fellows...

    Fitness with Fellow Masons

Exercise for loss - The calorie equivalent of pound of fat is a marathon of effort and it's worse than that because only a percentage of exercise effort is drawn from stored fat. Plus when you start a new exercise regime the muscles store glycogen for as much as a month causing water gain so...

    One black ball?

That's exactly why one cube is supposed to be enough. He may be in a position of authority so it has to be kept secret. Are are more points to block, though. In some jurisdictions there's a question if there are any objections before conferring a degree. I suspect in almost all jurisdictions...

How did u all become freemasons?

In most of the world there are never any invitations. You don't list your geography so there might be invitations if you live in certain European countries. In the US showing up is the preferred way. In other countries you may need to arrange for an introduction before showing up.

Cypher books or mouth to ear?

At the annual GL meeting this year California rejected having one brother with an open cipher book as a prompter at opened meetings.

    How can i be masonry

http://www.masonicinfo.com/grandlodges.htm - "The Grand Lodge of Scotland has a lodge in Amman, Jordan. You should contact them for information ..." http://www.grandlodgescotland.com/ - Scotland. To become a Mason you have to ask, but the method to approach a lodge is different there than...

    How can i be masonry

You do not list your geography. The answer is different in different lands. Bro Walker answered for most of North America and some other lands.

    Masonic etiquette

Interesting that you reacted differently to the same pattern at work. I traveled to another company for my work. You circumscribed and stayed at the same place. Each has its advantages. I moved to Texas in the process, but we had long wanted to move south of the snow line so there were more...

    What is Love to you?

Love is being there through cancer. Love is a decision and a pattern of action. Love is a memory that is there unchanged two and more decades later. I suggest that what you described in limmerance. Sometimes limmerance morphs into love sometimes it does not.

    Excited but scared.

Perspective - Until the day of your initiation you are the one who is a non-Mason who won't understand. To your top line signer you are the friend who is not a Mason. By accepting his friend (you) to become a Brother he took a step out in faith and put his trust in you that you will be okay...

    Affordable Health Care (Warning)

We know how government buzzwords work. The word "Affordable" in some program means the price doubles by the time the program is in full swing. Everyone who has thought it through should understand that a 19% increase only means the doubled price will take several years to phase in...

    Regular, Irregular, Clandestine and Recognized

It's the classic issue of any initiatory system - Someone or some group has to initiate themselves to get it started. Someone has to have the hubris to symbolically say "Let there be light" to get it started. This can be a single person who is like a prophet or it can happen gradually over...

A Warm Hello All the Way from Indonesia

If Masonry is no longer banned there, it is possible now. Becoming a Mason is much easier where Masonry is active; much harder where it is not. It appears you have figured out the path. Travel to a place we are active, establish enough residency, petition, work through your degrees, travel...

    Masonic etiquette

To some extent we get to chose our companies on a day to day basis. To a much greater scale we get to chose our companions on a year to year basis. I have changed jobs because the workplace went from character based to as you described several years after a corporate buyout. The cultural...

How did u all become freemasons?

Someone informed me that there are no invitations. The only way to join is to go ask. So that's what I did.

    Zombie craze--metaphor for?

Zombies work as the decline of churches - soulless zombie atheists. Zombies work as disrespect for science - mindless zombies who get hysterical over humdrum scientific products like GMO foods. Zombies work as immigrants as Bro Bryan already pointed out. Stories of ghosts, vampires...

    Memphis-Misraim Rite

They encourage personal excellence, which when it comes down to it is doing your best to emulate divine. There's a line in the sand somewhere. One side of the line is encouraged excellence. The other side of the line is hubris. I think the position of the line varies more by individual than...
