My lodge was recently visited by a Brother from the Netherlands. His patent was a large document with wax seals, and it folded into a hard cover about the size of a passport. I would like to bind my English Certificate in a similar fashion.
In the US it doesn't seem to be a common practice for MMs to receive one. I would like to see more lodges give a certificate of some kind to newly Raised Brethren, like the ones UGLE lodges present.
It's Duncan's, which has been available at every bookstore and news-seller for well over a century (I got mine in line at a grocery store).
No, it doesn't make it right, but it's certainly not surprising.
