Advice for being Senior Deacon

Greetings Brethren!
Over this past weekend my lodge had its Annual, and i was appointed and installed as Senior Deacon. Last year i was the JD and helped the SD quite a bit so i know what the role entails.
I was wondering if anybody had any advice for me for the next year.

Don't lose the Senior Deacon's tool. We can't seem to keep one; it's always disappearing.

More than their top line signer, to the candidates you're the mentor guy. You walk them through their degrees. How do you remember the SD from your degrees? Like that. As JD you welcome brothers back home to their own lodge and you welcome visitors from other lodges. As SD you bring candidates into Masonry. It's more directly personal than the type of greeting by the JD. Teach them more than just the words of the ritual - They become your heritage.
