Families in the Lodge.

Today my Lodge had its annual Christmas gathering for all of the extended families and it was my families and I's first social get together with my future brothers.

I felt very nervous walking up the stairs as I only really new one of the guys and he was not even there today. I lead my family to a table and was quizzed right away as to who we were. I said "My name is Darren" and one of the ladies said "Oh, your the newbie!" From that moment on, we felt part of the crowd even though we were the new guys.

We had a special visit from Santa and all of the children were given presents.

One of the brothers asked if my wife would like a tour if the lodge, including the lodge room. My wife was amazed at the lodge room itself as it was nothing like she expected.

All in all we both felt so welcome and comfortable in the end :)

These types of social gatherings (for me) have always been the perfect setting to get to know each other. It is heart warming to know that you and your family were accepted into the Lodge family as well as my family and I were so many years ago. That atmosphere of family and friends is exactly what Masonry is all about!!

As you progress through your degrees, you are going to find that this relationship between you and the Brethren and your family and the Lodge family will grow as well. You will also discover that you will also be just as openly welcomed at any other Lodge that you may choose to visit!

Enjoy the Ride!!
