Plans to update the lodge

Good day Brethren,

I had a question. I am from Florida. We are looking to possibly do the tessellated border and Mosaic Pavement. We have discussed using ceramic type tile. The question is, small tiles or large tiles? I personally prefer the smaller tiles because you can see more of the pattern, IMHO.

Additionally, does anyone know where we can order the border tessellated tiles or other material.

I want to donate the tile to the lodge and some of the brothers are going to assist in the installation.

That's wonderful! Humm, I would have to go with the larger tiles only because smaller ones tend to make floors look "busy".

at one of my lodges we use 12" tiles with a metal edging between the tiles and the blue carpet. Personally if I were doing it, Id do the black/white on an angle with the points pointing to the well the cardinal points of the compass. Id put a small border of 1"x4" gold/yellow tiles and put a wood border.
Id also thought about putting a tile S&C inside our front door...

Im not a pro installer or anything, but I have laid some tile in my house including changing my fireplace from brick to a quarry tile with mosaics... Tile is really pretty easy, just need to get the basic tools...

There was one floor that I was impressed with.. ! the brother who was a member of that lodge also owned a floor company and used Black and White .. ! either Granite or Marble.. ! don't remember which .. ! but they were in 12 x 12.. ! then he built the star in the middle.. ! used a small band of gold to in the star.. ! will see if I can get a picture.. ! It was not in Texas.. ! will send a e-mail and see if someone will take a picture of it.. ?

We recently tiled the lobby of our lodge with ceramic. The S&C in the middle of the floor really looks great.
