Why does the flap of an EA apron points up?

In some lodges in USA, I have seen that the flap of the EA apron worn is pointed up... why is that so?

Lodges in England and India, as per my knowledge, do not point the flap up - but please do correct me if I am wrong.

What is the symbolic meaning to it?

Bro Rinesh, US masons don't have different aprons for each degree but a different way of wearing them. Their MM apron is your EA apron.

Wow, now I need to really search and do my research on why it is like this.
So if I understand you correctly, the MM apron in US is a plain lambskin apron with no rosettes and the flap is down?

That is correct. If you are not sitting in an officers chair, PM or other special position, you just wear the white lambskin when 'side-lining' in most lodges. Even then, it's usually just a borrowed white cloth apron to be precise. As mentioned before, it is worn in a specific manner when the gentleman is an EA or FC.

While a plain white apron is perfectly acceptable for US Master Masons, in many states it's also acceptable to wear one with other "decoration." In Minnesota, the only restriction on a MM apron is that purple and gold are reserved for Grand Lodge. I've seen some fairly ornate MM aprons worn, although the ratty, wrinkled cloth aprons from the tyler's station are most common.

Yep. And following the intent, we should all be doing the Work.
Indeed. Speaking of which, I'm working our "context" thread into a talk at lodge... was going to do it last meeting, but only had time to organise it during the trip in on the train and it needs more work. It's topical because we have Installation next month where the 7 Liberal Arts and Sciences are mentioned and I wanted to highlight their importance, using the journey of them leading to philosophy which is the pursuit of truth and Truth which often just finds you relying on Faith ...

IMO this just leads to a measuring contest of sorts......
I've never seen that happen. I've never seen someone show up in a nice apron and that causing anyone else to try to top it.

The vast (and I mean vast) majority don't own an apron other than the one they were given at raising, and they keep that stored away in a closet. The cheesy cloth aprons are the standard. Unfortunately.
