Is this appropriate?

While I'm waiting for the investigative committee to do its thing, is it acceptable to join my Lodge for dinner or is it more appropriate to wait?

If they invite, definitely go.. if they don't ask, dont be too fussed, but it would not hurt to put the question to them.

"More than happy to wait until I become a Freemason, but is it appropriate for me to come to dinner before being initiated?" is the words I recommend.

We always have potential candidates to our dinners.

I was invited after my first meeting with my nomine, that said I wasn't able to attend due to my fathers passing.

We invite everyone who shows any interest to our dinners prior to our Stated Meetings. It is the best way for them to meet the Brothers and for a good number of Brothers to meet and get to know them. It is much better to be voting on someone you met and talked to than having to ask yourself "Who?" before voting.

If you do not get an explicit invitation, by all means ask.

This is the way it was for me. I went to the dinners for a few months before they gave me a petition.
