"The Lost Symbol" and the Freemasons: 8 Myths Decoded

I will just say I am almost half way and I love the book. You can really tell that Dan Brown is pro-masonry. He goes as far as having Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks for those that just saw the movie) think, in text:

I have seen various instances where the main character makes a statement even as far as using an analogy liking us to Coca-Cola Corp in our secrets.

Is it worth the read guys? I liked Angels and Demons, but was not a fan of the DaVinci Code. It seemed a bit slow to me. Someone let me know. Thanks

Very Pro-masonry. I don't know how I am going to answer questions about Kybalion, alchemy, numerology, and Zohar. Anybody up to giving this ol' Hillbilly a crash course? Is my imagination running wild or will these ancient mysteries entice many to seek a petition? I admit that I am fascinated with these mysteries, but I certainly am not qualified teach any of this stuff.
Nor am I my Brother, even though I have been teaching masonry for over 30 years! I think it is amazing at what a little bit (or possibly a whole lot) of fiction will do to spawn a renewed interest in a very old instuitution.

Read it, the book is Pro-Masonry. It is very interesting. Clearly a work of fiction, much more so than the "Code" was. I think if you are on here, you have demonstrated your ability to read, write and an extrordinary interest in Masonry - get it read it, compare it to what you know.
My plan is not to try to debate the book with non-Masons, not to address anything that is or is not secret, not to point out the errors, but to use it as a recruiting tool. Just remember the EA charge about those whole disparage through ignorance.
Overall, very good read regardless of Masonic affiliation. Mine is an eBook, really enjoyed that as well.

I'm hoping the movie stays true to the book in the pro-masonry part.

Not yet - I believe the contracts had already been signed before this book came out.
BTW - Ron Howard will be at the Austin Film Festival in October if anyone else here attends such things, so there may be discussion available then
