have you seen an increase in visitors, and other masons visiting this site since the TBL site closed down a few months ago? Just wondering if people are now searching other sites for information. The TBL is The Blue Lodge site that was runned by G.O.U.S.A. a clandestine group.

I was briefly on TBL but dropped it well before it died a natural death. The whole clandestine and the ad nausem attacks on 'mainstream' grew old fast.

there and several other sites were dominated by a particular group of former mainstream masons that have since left to start their own GLs. Long story but you can find most of it on the web. Many had a bad habit of bad mouthing everything mainstream and talking about how bad masonry is, how its failing blah blah blah. IMHO many never learned what masonry really is and wanted to change it to be what THEY wanted it to be. Im ok with that, but the constant bashing and by some demanding that they be accepted as equals was just too much drama for me.

I was a member of that forum, but never really participated. We've witnessed significant growth over the past couple of months, but I wouldn't attribute it to TBL. I believe our growth is from:

  • Referral competitions
  • Purchasing of SEO mods (Increase pagerank)
  • Word of mouth
  • Newsletters
  • Submitting youtube videos that advertise our website
  • Creating a Facebook account
  • Allowing Facebook members to login using their Facebook accounts.
  • Keeping content fresh
  • Posts that are actually Masonic-related. Many Masonic forums have evolved into nothing more than a political debate or current event discussions.
  • Offer services that make the website a social hub. Brothers want to have a good time on the site so the media player, online games, etc. keep em coming back.
  • Most importantly, our users. Without this group of wonderful Brothers, this site would be nothing.

Bro. Blake, that is pretty much what I have told others when referring to this site. I find it to be a comfortable place to stop by, and hang out for a bit. I can usually find very good information, assistance, and a general goo time here. The Brothers are a very good bunch, and even the visitors, whether Brothers or not, are all pretty good. We do have our disagreements, but we have those in everyday life, as well as at Lodge. Here, it is in moderation, (or is it moderated??). I learned a good bit about the endowments this week from this site. I also have learned some things here, that probably should heve been taught locally, but again, it is just as good here. A Brother gets to see what it is like at other Lodges, while not having to drive several hundred miles across our State, or into another to find out. Again, I want to say THANKS to you, for providing this "Home", and to my many Brothers here who help out, and sometimes give my Doc reason to increase my Blood Pressure medicine... :)
