Grand Lodge Rules and Resolutions

The whole code book thread got me to thinking. How does one go about getting a copy of the current Grand Lodge laws and how does one keep up to date on pending resolutions?

The secretary of the lodge should know all of this, as well as your junior warden, who will be reading at least one rule per month... typically from what I've seen, most warden's chairs have a copy of the rules, regulations, and edicts sitting next to them.

Also, the District Deputy most definitely will. As well as (more than likely) your District Instructor.

You can get a copy of GL law from the Grand Secretarys office. When the proposed resolutions are printed copies will be sent to your lodge. After the Grand Communication updates are printed for the law book which you can purchase for $5(?).

you have to remember, GL laws are written by lawyers who tend to use 6 words when only 3 will suffice, and 4 sentences when 2 will be enough... I'm a lawyer and its pretty easy for me to read the lawbook, so guess who the master, wardens and secretary come to when they need something interpreted. The JW is asking me a question about it at least once a month.

I was told that we can get a copy from Grand Lodge this year on CD for $10.00 in word format that is searchable, WOW that will help a lot.

Has anyone got a copy of this lately? I would like to see this. You would think it would be in PDF format. Soon the JW will have a laptop and when an issue arises he will just search the issue. Wow. This will be intresting to see in a Lodge. I am sure we are many years from seeing it but I am sure we will in our lifetime.

Brother Jerry, if at all possible would you or any other brother going to GL this year be willing to get me one of those Cd's, I will reimburse asap. If you dont get this message soon I will address it with you @ lodge tonight, if you can make it.

Our District Deputy brought the resoution packet to stated meeting last month and read some of the more controversial ones. Theres one about the EA degree Im not too thrilled about, especially since I gave my EA prof not long ago, Im sure you guys know what Im talking about.
