What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

There are several ways to address your question. In the larger sense, it really makes no difference if you pay your dues online, or hand a check to your lodge secretary, or send a check through the US Mail, or pay in cash. As long as your dues are paid. But- there are several other issues that...

What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

Being able to pay dues on line, is a change that has been long in coming. The Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania has enabled every PA mason to pay dues online. The Grand Lodge made an arrangement with Payliance. (See www.payliance.com). Masons can arrange for their dues to be paid online.

What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

I have seen the slideshow, for the MM degree, and it was terrific. I obtained some videos from the GL of Oklahoma. I suggested that we view them at my lodge, and some members went ballistic. "Masonry has survived for hundreds of years without video". And blah-blah-blah. In the EA degree, we are...

What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

I don't believe that anyone is suggesting that the rituals be altered. The general purpose of this thread, is to discuss what can be changed on the administrative side of Freemasonry. Should we expand our internet presence? Should we reach out to inactive masons? Should our meetings be more...

What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

I would LOVE to see our stated meetings, be more interesting. I have been to so many stated meetings, and it is open the lodge, read the sick list, pay the bills, recognize the past masters, close the lodge and go home. And then members are surprised that attendance is down. Maryland has a...

What would you like to see changed in the Masonic experience?

I would LOVE to see the moderate use of alcohol return to our lodge functions. What USA masons do not realize, is that nearly every lodge and Grand Lodge in the world, permits alcohol in the lodge. Look at our neighbor, Canada, and see how they do it! Until the disaster of national prohibition...

    License plates... yea or nay?

I reside in Alexandria VA. There are several different plates available here, for Masons, OES, Shrine, etc. There is a special plate for Prince Hall Masons. I would guess that the clerks at the DMV would not know the difference between masons, and that a PH mason, could easily obtain either plate.

    License plates... yea or nay?

An interesting story about Masonic plates in Arkansas: The MW Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Masons in Arkansas, designed a Masonic plate, and had it approved by the Arkansas Dept of Motor Vehicles. See: http://www.dfa.arkansas.gov/offices/motorVehicle/Pages/specialityPlateDetails.aspx?show=96...

    License plates... yea or nay?

I have also had an excellent experience with Masonic plates. I am the man responsible for the existence of Masonic plates in Kentucky. I was reading the "Northern Light", the journal of the Scottish Rite (northern jurisdiction). I read an article about how New Jersey and Pennsylvania masons...

    When visiting a new lodge....

Certainly! Visiting other lodges in the USA and abroad, is part of the wages of a MM. When I travel on business or pleasure, I always seek out the lodge(s) in the area. I like to ease the stress of work, and being away from home, by fellowshipping with other Masons. When I visit a lodge, I...

    When visiting a new lodge....

If you wish to visit a lodge, you should get the lodge meeting time from the lodge webpage. Some lodges have other meetings, such as degree work, that is not listed on their webpage. You can always call a lodge officer, and get the information on when a lodge meets. And many lodges serve a meal...

    When visiting a new lodge....

No, not at all. Visiting other lodges is a benefit, a privilege of being a MM. When you become a Mason, you are part of an international fraternity. I have visited a German-speaking lodge, where some of the members risked being sent to a concentration camp, just for being a Mason. I visited a...
