I've wondered about this before. I think that everything has to have been made by someone/thing at one point though...what name you give It ( God, The All, etc) is just a matter of labeling.
Maybe I'm not very familiar with Catholicism but I'm unsure how 'widow' would apply to this? If you're implying that the Templars are the symbolic son of a widow? Who is the mother?
That's an interesting theory, thanks for sharing it.
Are you suggesting that there's no hierarchy in Freemasonry though? It's true that we all meet on the level but I can't help but wonder if there is a certain degree of existential collectivism at play as well.
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding...
I think part of the reason is that YR lodges tend to have very low dues, I know our dues are not much more than the per capita. Many YR lodges can't justify having higher dues than that and it'd be hard to have a building for them self with so little income.
Re: Why is it so hard to get Masons to join the Co
Wow, that article stuck me as a bit biased towards SR. Yorkrite is technically older than SR isn't it? I don't see how their Templars could be considered more authentic like the author suggests.

Neither are suits. I don't own a tuxedo yet but I own several suits and they weren't expensive at all. Thrift shops can be wonderful, especially if you have patience and luck.
I'm just a college student so I'm by no means rich either.

TO lodges strike me as very modular, which means you can pick whichever practices you feel are best for your lodge and even fine-tune and tweak them.
So you can adopt some TO practices and not even have a dress code...or, if even if you do...
Agreed, everyone makes mistakes and sometimes having a crowd doesn't help. I know when I was in the East I absolutely bombed every time we had an official visit. :)
Mistakes will happen but that's part of what makes Freemasonry beautiful. There will always be someone there to help you...
I voted unsure because the modern theory of evolution has...well, evolved since Darwin came up with his original theory. I also voted this because the theory will continue to change as more information comes to light.
It's probably because I'm about to be a biology teacher (Lord willing) but...
Re: Traditional observance lodges are they good fo
I think this is really what it comes down to. A lodge can take or leave TO practices but if a lodge wants the types of results that TO lodges produce then it seems, to me at least, that adopting some, or all, of the TO practices would be the...

If any of the brothers here have cable/satellite I'd encourage you to multiply your monthly bill by twelve. I'm just pointing this out as I find it helps to give some perspective.
Many of us pay more per month for our satellite/cable then we...
I had an IPhone until I went out on a whim and bought my Galaxy SII. Since then everyone else in my immediate family has went Galaxy as well and I doubt any of us will go back anytime soon. :)
I don't know of any such guide, if I'm understanding the question correctly. Typically if we're working on some of the ritual we'll try to get our district instructor to visit us during one or two of our practice sessions. I found this to be very helpful while trying to learn how to confer...
