It's already been said, but take your time, seriously. You'll be a mason the rest of your life but you only get to be an EA of FC once. I'd suggest you try to learn as much as you can from each degree before moving to the next and don't just try to learn the words but seek to understand the...
Re: Traditional observance lodges are they good fo
I haven't attended a TR lodge but I think they're a very good thing and I'd love to see a more accepting stance on them from the GL level.
It seems like a great practice, just look at the rates of retention and attendance (I've heard of some...
I prefer to see it this way as well. Unfortunately it is like you say and many lodges put brothers in the East way before they are ready regardless of if they're qualified to be leaders or not.
What a mess...
I guess I don't follow the news very closely, why is there so much unrest in Egypt once again? I thought they had just stabilized themselves.
I'd put forth that both are culprits but if we, as the gate keepers of our lodges, took more pride in what we're guarding then I don't think the west gate would be open quite so wide.
What do you mean 'dropped'? Does he have to re-apply for affiliation or take the degrees over?
Isn't this how it's done in many parts of the world? I'd be open to the idea but we'd also have to guard our west gates more carefully.
I can't answer the first question but...
It's very probable that the ritual changed as Freemasonry adapted from operative lodges to taverns to the lodge rooms we have today. There were also variations in the ritual that stemmed from geography...this still exists in fact but it was likely more...
We do the same thing with our lodge, we have a private and public page.
Here's our public one: https://www.facebook.com/GrandviewLodge
As you can see, aside from creating events and posting news/updates I share quite a bit as well. I already follow/like a lot of Masonic pages so it was pretty...
Last I heard we've gotten about 200k this year out of the 8mil that's been projected (I also learned that 8 mil was a very conservative estimate). I'd second that the brothers are voting with their wallets.
I was led to believe that I'd receive my share of the templar treasure every lodge has in their hidden basement after I became a MM. :1:
Still waiting on that check...
On a more serious note though, there is a wide range of reasons for people to go inactive but I personally feel the biggest...
The title basically says it all.
I've been looking through the lawbook and I can see where the formation of New Commanderies is discussed but I can't seem to find any exact number needed.
I'm probably overlooking it but if someone could help me out here, preferably with a quote if possible...
I haven't heard of anyone splitting up a degree like that before...
Either way, I've always understood that you aren't to wear any masonic jewelry until you've turned in the work for your Masters.
Lucifer is actually a Latin word, which means 'light bearer' or 'bringer of light'. If I'm not mistaken it was the name given by the ancients to Venus because it could be seen in the sky just before the sun came up each morning.
Is Satan Lucifer? I don't believe so.
Regardless of what you may answer, I think the worst thing any mason can do is feel as though they have to apologetically justify our being a male only organization.
They don't have to like it, they can't join anyhow. :P
