Our lodge has been busy with initiations and degree work that I am actually travelling to another lodge close by to do my FC work since it would be at least another month before they could do it and my mentor thought it would be good for me to travel to another lodge as well as get my FC done...
Very cool, I wondered mainly because I can see the same sort of person being attracted to the honour and chivalry of SCA to be attracted to the Masons. Since I am a member of both I figured it was likely there were others.
I am also getting my FC that week. Going to another lodge for the ceremony too, which should be interesting in itself. March is the likely time for my MM, I know some are hoping I'll try for it in Feb though.
I first became interested in Freemasonry a number of years ago, went so far as to visit the local lodge, meet with a few members, but I didn't petition at the time, I was worried that fitting in would be difficult as every member I met was well over 80 yrs old and I (at the time) was in my late...

Great thread, as one currently working towards my FC its really nice to read about techniques to calm nerves. I've been working on memorizing the questions and answers, and really hoping I pull it off. Luckily I have a good group of guys in my local group that are helping as much as possible and...
Thank you dfreybur, that is an excellent explanation of the reasoning behind the initiation ceremony and the memorization aspect. Part of my motivation for joining the Masons was to improve my memory, I knew there was a lot of memory work involved in the degrees and in the ceremonies in general...
Thank you, I have enjoyed my education thus far, and look forward to continuing on the path. A little nervous about the upcoming ceremony, my memory isn't wonderful, so trying to memorize my lines is a real tough task.
