Re: if i came to you lodge on a stated what would 1- Does you lodge serve dinner of light snacks? A snack or meal after the meeting 2- Is it dress up coat n ties or casual dress? Dress up as you can but casual is fine too 3- Do you do anything special for first time visitors? Not really...

Has the Voynich Manuscript Been Deciphered?

I was just reading this earlier today. I love the idea of the Voynich Manuscript, however I think they jumped the gun here. I highly doubt that they've got it figured out. Its most likely jsut an elaborate hoax. The fact that a hand full of plants bear some similarity to North American plants is...

    Mormonism and Freemasonry

Well being as that is exactly the case for me I can tell you it phases them but not significantly. As for the why ask, not sure, I am guessing its been on the form for some time and no one's questioned it.

Do you believe in Darwinian evolution?

*Bold added by me for emphasis There is no "JUST A THEORY" in science. This is the point we are trying to get across here. The theory about lockness is NOT a scientific theory it is a theory in the usage most people are familiar with, in science it would be a hypothesis at best. Everything in...

    Mormonism and Freemasonry

The petition in my jurisdiction asks these questions as well, although I can tell you from personal experience they are fine with non-christians.

Do you believe in Darwinian evolution?

Based on your previous responses in this thread I am going to have to assume you missed my point and that you don't clearly understand what the word "Theory" means from a scientific point of view. I am not saying that because evolution is a theory that it might not be true, evolution is a fact...

Do you believe in Darwinian evolution?

Great expansion on Theory. I would argue that religion itself does not conflict with science, but rather certain religious fanatics choose to be in conflict with science, but that's just quibbling over minor details. Of course Science cannot be in conflict with religion, but again Scientists...

    Reasons for becoming a Freemason

We absolutely agree on that point. My issue was really primarily with the "....never a good answer". I was probably just nit picking on semantics though ;)

    Reasons for becoming a Freemason

Why not? Curiosity is natural, its what drives humanity. I gave curiosity as part of my answer for why I wanted to join, the investigation committee didn't seem to mind. Sure if its the sole reason for joining perhaps the person is not yet ready for masonry, but lets be honest before joining I...

Do you believe in Darwinian evolution?

Wow... I knew this thread would be.... contentious, but still...As I see it a big part of the problem is people don't understand the word "Theory". There are two definitions of the word, the two definitions are similar but separate enough that when using the word care must be taken. You see to a...

    I keep reading 2be1ask1.

John, when I first looked into masonry I called a local lodge and they had some guys meet me and discuss it. I didn't join at the time, but as I understand it that's pretty much how everyone does it. This time around several of my co-workers were masons so I simply asked them.

    Raised to F.C. Last Night

Thanks for the congrats everyone. The lecture was fascinating, it was done in a rather unique way. The WM of my lodge developed a multimedia presentation to give the lecture. It was the official visit of the DDGM as well that night and he even came down to watch the lecture as it was such a...
