I too walk when learning ritual.. but you need to incorporate a final phase standing still, so you dont become reliant on the steps to bring the words...The memorization process is both mental and physical so I find walking up and down the backyard while reciting out loud is useful.
Thus, when the mind fails the body still remembers how to make the sounds.
Practicing in the car is great... and now with mobile phones, people will not think you are crazy for talking to yourselfWhen I was first learning my work about the only place I could talk privately out loud was in the shower. Fortunately about that time our hot water heater went out and I could replace it going from a 30 gal. to a 50 gal. I needed more time!!
It really comes in handy when going through the MM lecture.

Agreed! You need to learn how you learn. I'm a visual learner (we print obligations here... we protect "secrets" by blanks.. Hence " Freemasonry is a sy____ of _____ veiled in a_____ and illustrated by _____."
If there is one secret in learning lines, it's repetition.
I find walking up and down the backyard while reciting out loud is useful.
Same here.I too walk when learning ritual..
Yep.Practicing in the car is great...
Agreed! Trying to memorize something when you have no idea at all what it means is tough. It makes it easier if you truly understand each and every word, and the meaning behind what it truly states.
The problem is, you don't have a steering wheel to hold onto whilst doing a lecture.Practicing in the car is great... and now with mobile phones, people will not think you are crazy for talking to yourself
Excellent point! One thing is remembering, But as Master Mason, you're living the obligation daily, the remembering is for show that you are proficient in that degree...
"Attentive ear." As in "paying attention."...that's what we call an intintive ear....I might have said it wrong but some of you Brothers can pick me up......
