Getting kicked out of the line

Ok i had posted earlier this year that i am the JW of my lodge and had a disagreement with the SW and tried all year to reach out to the sw and could not get a responce.

I finally talked to a brother (whos a member of this forum) and a member of my lodge. He gave me advice. He said (just leave it alone and just do your job as JW and the lodge will see that".

Well thats bull crap. I let it die down and did my job as JW with the hopes of going to the west.

Even put the horriffic stuff the SW did to me (personally out of lodge) and let it be water under the bridge. Started talking to him and just decided to bite the bullet and be the bigger man.

Well apparently the bad mouthing me hadn't stopped from his end.

I figured out he ignored my pleas to fix things because he had an ulterior plan.

He manipulated the vote and got a kid who had been a mason for not even six months to get voted into my spot and me kicked out of the line.

This had nothing to do with masonry, it was personal. This kid never sat in an "installed chair" i sat as SD them installed as JW and got kicked out of the line due to whisper campaigning and bad talking me to apparently THE WHOLE LODGE!!

I had spoke to the ddgm earlier in the year and told him about the situation. He said just try to fix things with the SW and i don't see no reason why if anything you would not move up if your doing your job as JW.

Well it shows that the SW is now in the east, a child who don't even know how to put the S&C on the bible right nor know how to prepare a ballot box is now going to be installed as the SW.

So upsetting that masonry is not about masonry in this lodge, its about manipulation and who you know.

This guy got like 10 members who haven't sat in lodge all year to show up just to sway the vote. Not cause they were there to enjoy masonry, but strictly to put in a dirty vote.

I feel that i have been wronged, and cheated.

I am sorry that politics finds its way into some lodges. I have seen a few of my lodges have this issue. These are the ones I'm less active in, for obvious reasons. On the other hand I've seen some of my lodges where we are hurting so bad they pass right though the chairs without being able to do their jobs. This is a bad practice too... The lodge votes for its top three offices where I am at. Nothing is guaranteed just cause you set in a chair....we need to vote capable brothers that exhibit the core principals of the order.

Manipulating a vote. Sounds like cheating to me

You are using the word differently now, to indicate your belief they didn't play by the rules. That may or may not be the case. I don't know the rules in your jurisdiction. In my jurisdiction, there would be the appearance of electioneering. However, getting out the vote is not manipulation. It is a typical practice in Masonic elections.

Sorry to hear you are upset and I can well understand why.

Really, if we pause (and I remember the other thread) and think about this, we cannot be surprised this has happened... while this sort of thing is extremely bad for lodges (to say nothing of your personal disappointment) it does sometimes happen.. Given we knew the SW was hostile to you, and according to your report, not dealing with you fairly, as WM we should not be surprised this behaviour continued, but I'm sure while the masonic virtue silence is being practiced - people would be watching this situation and whether watched or not, its important you react in the best way you can and in a way true to masonic principles - which include tolerance and patience. Character gets tested in many ways, both large and small in life, to be a good Freemason, you have to try to temper your character by masonic principles. Sounds like your character is being tested.

Yes im sure my temper is being tried. I smiled and walkout of the lodge after closing in a mature manor. I subdued my passions.

But masonry is my life. And i feel like politics are more stronger then masonic principals.

Self gain and wearing a jewl is thrown around in exchange for one joining an alliance against someone.

The guy who got into the west was on a power trip and from going to getting raised a couple months ago and a promise to go to the west if he could be used as a pawn was like candy for a child.

Wheres masonry going?

Despite my posts, I'm not without sympathy for your treatment. I'm glad you were the bigger man. Let us know where you go from here.

As these other esteemed Brothers have advised, remain focused on honoring Masonic teachings and following them to the best of your understanding. This is definitely a teaching moment for yourself and the lodge membership.

May I also add that as you have served as a warden, that makes you eligible for consideration in the future to the Oriental Chair. Continue to prepare yourself so that you may qualify for such position should any lodge call on you in the future.

The path to the East is not the same for every Mason, nor are any of us guaranteed to ascend to the East, as serving one's lodge is an HONOR, and most definitely a PRIVILEGE!!!

In my opinion, your continued perseverance and commitment to living a moral life while practicing masonic virtue will say more about YOU than any badmouthing you may have experienced.

Thank you brother! Im definitely following up with the DDGM as i felt it was unfair to have members show up who haven't been to lodge in years to vote for a man for the west who they really never met. And some came with proxy votes also. I mean if that wasn't rigged i don't know what is.

Usually we get 4-5 sideliners if that normally. That night, Full house of people who never EVER show up, and some had proxy votes from members who i never ever heard of.

No way that was a unbiased Masonic vote.

With that revelation you just shared, I will simply say this, "May our enemies work unknowingly in our favor!"

Yep. But that's not the issue to focus upon here. You have several life lessons presented to you in this entire situation. If you focus upon the externals, the lessons shall likely be lost. If you focus upon the internals, you could benefit tremendously. This was not about you as far as the lodge is concerned. This was about you and your choices and decisions regarding the lodge. The handwriting was on the wall from the near beginning.

You have a limited amount of control and influence outside of you. Make what control you have count. Don't waste it in directions that ultimately make little to no good difference into your future and if pursued, shall waste your precious resources.

You're actually in a great place to learn and I am not talking about your current lodge here.

I hope what I am sharing gets through your current mindset, for that is your biggest challenge for you to overcome.
