Does anyone know what it stands for ?

It appears in old texts like;

ENTERED APPRENTICES DEGREE.

Q. “Where stands the senior E.A.P.? …
A, In the West-
Q. What is his business ? …
A. To hear and receive instructions, and welcome strange Brothers-
Q. Where stands the junior E.A.P.? …
A. In the north-
Q. What is his business? …

Seems to be some sort of ritual version.
Only thing Ive seem is that it is another shortform of EA.
Where is it from?

You might laugh but if it's old enough and the person who wrote couldn't spell my mind goes to Entered A Prentence (EAP). I fully admit this could be terribly wrong.

also, it would be interesting to know who/where the book came from.

Latin translations and germanic translations yield different results.

I'm not a linguist. I was first lead to PH = F based on my education in Geodetics and Geodesy. The rest is google.

I've seen the text several times and it's represented as being very old but not sure of the exact original source...

Read this. It says what the eap does.

https://books.google.com/books?id=AFE2AQAAMAAJ&pg=PA265&lpg=PA265&dq=Where+stands+the+senior+E.A.P&source=bl&ots=P1SvZNjdec&sig=N6nogYjgqcKr_NdcNtoU5waD_PY&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi_0O6G78_UAhXJdT4KHZPkBCAQ6AEILTAC#v=onepage&q=Where stands the senior E.A.P&f=false

You can dl the book and search it for eap. The more I read, the more I am thinking that P refers to a point or officer place within the lodge which is occupied by an entered apprentice.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Bro Steve and the book.
