Resolution proposals for next GL session

I think so long as it's tasteful then it's like a form of self-expression. Ever see Brother Franklin's apron?

    A rotating Grand Lodge?

Personally I think Texas is far too big to only have Grand Lodge in Waco. It needs some sort of decentralization or other changes to reflect that. I'm fortunate to only be a few hours from Waco but I can see how it'd be a pain for a brother further away to attend. When I think about the days...

Resources for the Worshipful Master to be

Hello brothers, First I'll say that I hope this is in the right forum and that this topic hasn't been covered before. I'm currently the SW of my lodge and there's a fair possibility that I'll get voted into the East next year. I've seen what a year with a bad worshipful master can be like and...

Resolution proposals for next GL session

It's 'either or' Bro. Stedman. As mentioned by another brother, if we just extend the right to Master Masons present at Grand Lodge then it creates a sort of unfair advantage for lodges in close proximity. If it was state wide however, then the lodges could just vote on the resolutions...

Resolution proposals for next GL session

I see what you brothers are saying about my 2nd suggestion. It's nothing something I'm as sold on as my first suggestion but it also seems to me that this sort of encourages a rushed progressive line. I also feel that, if there is no greater degree than that of Master Mason, we shouldn't...

Resolution proposals for next GL session

Let's just say I'm a fan of a lot of the Tradition Observance ideas... Smaller lodges make more sense to me, when a lodge gets to be a certain size then it can split. You deserve a better explanation but my brain is a bit tired tonight. I know there are lodges out there that are barely...

Resolution proposals for next GL session

Bro. Burks, I'd offer a counter point but that might lead to us derailing this thread. :P In regards to the requirements to going to the East I agree with you but I'd like to elaborate a bit also. The recommendation would work very well if good ritual were to equal good leadership but that...

Resolution proposals for next GL session

I was thinking about this lately actually, and I have two: 1. Drastically decrease the amount of masons needed to form a new lodge. 2. Allow Master Masons to be able to vote and have a voice in Grand Lodge, removing the requirement to be a past master. Just my .02

    Ritual Book Etiquette

We likely wouldn't be able to open a Chapter or Council at my lodge without the ritual books (assuming enough people even show up). It doesn't really impress, but it's time consuming enough to try and get the Blue Lodge ritual memorized. When we do open, there might be one or two companions on...

    Memorization Aid???

The best reason I can think of comes from our obligations. If a Grand Lodge were to print an 'official' cypher whereby the secrets of our fraternity could be discovered by the uninitiated and unprepared then that might upset some people. The same process seems like it would also demean that...

    Shaq

Ya I saw it. I remember thinking his ring would make a nice belt buckle for me. :) But I agree, I think he represented the fraternity very well.

    Memorization Aid???

An EA at my lodge was told to get a copy of that book as well. It's a shame it was suggested for you to buy it before you were raised. My opinion is to tuck it away until you turn in your Master's proficiency and don't tell anyone that you have it because if the wrong person found out...

Saw this on Bro. Porter's Facebook page...

Seems like a lot of good stuff is going on in Colorado. Hopefully others will pick up on their example.

    Tucker & Dale vs. Evil

I watched this on Netflix last week and thought it was pretty enjoyable. It's definitely a neat spin on the idea. :)

    Dealing with lazy EA's

Some things can be written...there have been countless books written on Freemasonry and I doubt each of those authors broke their obligations. I think it's important to note in your quote that the brother mentioned writing about aspects of the degree (such as the lessons, symbolism, ect) and...

    Dealing with lazy EA's

I always say it's not usually a matter of time so much as it is a matter of priorities.

    Dealing with lazy EA's

I was going to post almost the same thing as Ashlar. The EA always came across to me as the stage in Masonry where the wheat gets separated from the chaff. I've noticed that if someone isn't interested in learning what they need in order to advance, it will often be the most apparent with EAs...
