In Texas we have Warden's retreats. Junior Wardens prepare for the Senior Warden job. Senior Wardens prepare for Worshipful Master job. I do think there is room for improvement, but GLOT does attempt to provide Leadership training.
I agree. I think the policy of being tested by the DI or COW is good though. A Brother who is traveling to the East should be able to open and close the Lodge. His leadership ability and the fact that the Lodge wants him to be WM is what counts most.
If you visit with the Members of a Lodge and they are not willing to sign your petition, FIND ANOTHER LODGE. I don't think you will have to do that because most Lodges are happy to have good men who are interested in joining.
I agree with you 100%. That book is a wonderful reference if you have a question like "is it may be, or might be?". It would be impossible to learn the work from it because it doesn't always use the same code for a particular word. But if you have learned it the right way, from another...
Every year at Grand Lodge someone will go down to give his opinion about an issue and get shut down when it is discovered he is not a Past Master. Many Brothers are under the assumption that if they are Master Masons, they have voting rights.
If you visit a Lodge in Texas you must provide a current picture ID and a paid up dues card issued by a Lodge that is recognized by the Grand Lodge of Texas. Every Lodge in Texas has a book to verify the visitors Lodge. So, I guess you could say there is discrimination.
Was your Lodge not...
I'm willing to come. Maybe you could get all the Lodges in your district interested in a group esoteric class. Then even if you only have one or two from each Lodge, you would still have a good group.
One other thing. If you only have two or three people show up, go ahead and practice...
Check out their meeting dates and time and go down there and introduce yourself. I know it is a little scary but they will welcome you. I promise.
You will be glad you did.
You sound like a Man I would be proud to have in my Lodge. I encourage you to seek light in Masonry. You will not be sorry. Masonry needs deep thinking men.

I looked this up after my last post.
Art. 235. (273). Called Meetings: Business Permitted.
Called Meetings may be ordered by the Master of the Lodge, or
by the Senior Warden in his absence, or by the Junior Warden in
the absence of both, at any time not prohibited by law for any one

I just thought about Army Lodge in San Antonio. They have a light box built into the wall. Then they have interchangeable stained glass frames that fit into the box. One for the G, one for OES and I assume they have one for York Rite. I think if you have a lodge that is used for several...
I think most that I have seen were hand crafted by a Lodge member. With the exception of the neon G in Floresville which had to have been made by a sign company.
I kind of like the leaded glass. Maybe you can find a local artist to make one.
