Christmas Day... all year ..

So, for those of us who live in places where Christmas is celebrated...

Did you speak to Brothers on Christmas Day ? Get or make a call ? Get or receive and email or sms ?

I was smiling with my partner, I took a few calls from Christmas Day from Brethren, the first call was from a Muslim, the second from a Hindu :)

People often complain lodges are not as fraternal as some distant imagined past, or in time and places where your brothers lived in the same small town a street or two together... but I'm always working hard to try to create that feeling of friendship in my lodges... Yesterday I just sat down for two hours and called as many brethren as I could... the great irony of this is I set out to do this, kinda as "giving" and always get "paid back" (my wages) in amplified returns, it's why my partner and I had one of the best New Years ever.. .at a brothers.. it's why I get invites to joyous weddings, christenings, dinners, birthdays and alike..

All up, I spoke to 5 brothers on Christmas Day, it was me reaching out to the first, but the others called me (and not in the middle of dinner either)..

Did you call brethren...will you next Christmas or maybe just the next time you have an idle 10 minutes (like walking the dog or to the shops) ???? its so easy and it helps make the fraternal part of Freemasonry what it should be..

Do you even have the name and number of every brother in your phone ?

We celebrate the 24th here.
I didnt get any but considering that I often visit my parents around christmas wich I dont do that often so calls would have gotten in the way of family.

For me the fraternal spirit is in that I can call my brothers when I need them the most or I want just want help, the same goes that my brothers can call me.
That matters more then all calls on christmas.

True brother, but it was interesting that on such an special, busy and full day to be thinking of and have other brothers thinking of me on Christmas and actually pick up the phone... I felt a feeling of success because I always encourage others to make calls. My first on Christmas morning was to an older member, unmarried, no kids, alone, and the first thing he said to me was he'd just hung up from another bro who's family called to wish him well.

24th hey...do you do the dinner thing with lots of small courses.. can't remember what its called... what do you get up to on the 24th ? (I shop often not starting to that day, then wrap presents, help prepare food and this year off to church for the 11 pm service..)

Might be diffrence in persons and how you are but since I dont spend as much time with my parents as with my brothers I want to have my full attention on my family. It might be nice for some but for me it would honestly just stress me out even more.

Actuly we start having those (its called julbord) in the start of December and they go on around Sweden up until the 24th, we had one in our lodge about a week before christmas where brothers could bring their wifes and the local lions Lucia preform and collect money for carity.
Its one of the highlights of the year.
I spend christmas this year at my father (my parents are divorced) and among other things we saw at From all of Us to All of You ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/From_All_of_Us_to_All_of_You ) as well as Christopher's Christmas Mission as well as discussed a lot of things including freemasonry (Im the first mason in our family so they are kind of curious as well as sceptical).
