Pressing charges

Can someone bring an EA up on masonic charges?

What about an EA bringing charges up on another EA, or a MM?

Is it still taken care of in the same way?

I think an EA can bring charges but do not know I will have to look into that but I do now you would just protest an EA or FC's advancment if they do something dumb.

Yup- Art. 495.

I find nothing to indicate that only MM's can file charges, so I would conclude, in the absence of evidence to the contrary, that an EA could file an accusation against another EA, a FC, or a MM.

i don't have the book in front of me, nor could i find it online. can you post exact articles online for the rest of the forumgoers (i believe you to be right, but perhaps it's different in other jurisdictions and most don't have ready access to a masonic law book from texas)?

a candidate raised the original question about a friend of his joining the craft that he himself would have problem with, and i'd like to be able to cite a source. it would be helpful.

Pardon my lack of knowledge, but what is exactly is meant by "charges" ?

Sorry 'bout that- it's when a Brother makes a formal complaint against another, much like somebody can be "charged" with a crime. Us old guys are still using the old terminology- since Title V was revised, it's now properly put "accusing of a Masonic disciplinary violation". (Why use one word where three will do? :D)

Someone (don't remember who) awhile back posted a link to the GLoT Law online, but I can't find it. Does anybody have it?

In Kentucky, it is easy to prevent an EA or FC from advancing.

In Texas there are two ways of preventing an EA or FC from advancement. One by multiple protests that can be made IN PERSON (telephone if the WM will accept) or by requesting a vote on his advancement. Which in that case it would be done by show of hands or secret ballot.

The articles that come into play here are:

Art. 407
Art. 417
Art. 418
Art. 421
Art. 423
Art. 426
Art. 438

I'll let you all look em up and read them. I recommend starting at Art. 426.
