It may be a silly question but...is there any kind of masonic membership cards used when visiting other lodges ? Does all Masons are registered with Grand Lodge ? How does it work ? I cant imagie everyone would rely just on handshakes and tricky questions...thanks in the advance !

I don't think ugle has dues cards, we have a membership card, but no one uses it to visit.... yes, basically we do rely on a smile and a handshake... but the guys in your lodge will explain local customs and hopefully take you visiting and show you the ropes...

Really ? Thats amazing...personally I would never rely just on Gestures. What if somebody knows all the "secrets" ? How can you stop them all getting to the lodges ? Please stop me if I am getting too far with all this questions...

Everytime you are out as a UGLE mason, you normally need your GL certificate and a letter from lodge sec regarding on good standing member.
Even you have the GL cert, you still need to go through some kind of examinations if there's no one can vouch for you.

Inside North America - A dues card is a document issued by GL signed by your lodge's Secretary.

Outside North America - A certificate of current dues is a document issued by GL signed by your lodge's Secretary.

We also prove ourselves the first time we visit. That's part of your studies in a later degree.

I have never been examined as a UGLE. Not even sure where my grand Lodge certificate is

(I have visited lodges in 14 states,Washington DC, and several foreign countries). In the USA, when you have completed the Master mason's degree, you will receive a dues card, which is both a receipt that your dues are paid for the current year, and your "Admission ticket" to the other lodges in your Grand Lodge, and to the lodges which are in the jurisdiction of the various grand lodges, which are in communications with your Grand Lodge.

Example: I belong to a lodge in Kentucky. My lodge is under the jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of Kentucky. The Grand Lodge of Kentucky is in communications with the Grand Lodge of Virginia. I can visit lodges in Virginia (where I reside).

Normally you won't have certificates for the first two degrees, after you get to the final one you will have one issued by the United Grand Lodge.
But if you need to transfer to another jurisdiction then you will probably have one issued from the UGLE. I've seen some lodges do second degree certificates.

Your Dues card is your bidding certificate saying you are in good standing with your Lodge.....And you want to Fellowship outside of your home Lodge.....(Stay Busy)

I'm pretty sure if he wants to be healed or Demit to a Prince Hall Lodge he's more than welcome.....We will put him to work...

I think there's no such thing in the UGLE system...
our examination process stems off what we learn in each degree.

We don't have a school of instruction for testing each other if that is what you think.

I was examined after showing my dues card at a lodge in my home state. I had to repeat a portion of the Master Mason work.
