Etiquette for a non-member

I have never been to a masonic lodge, but have been invited by the worshipful master to attend the next lodge meeting. How should a non-member address those members of The Lodge? I don't want to make the stupid newbie mistake.

Dress your best. Dark suit and tie if you can unless told otherwise. If not sure always overdress vs. underdress. I would just address them how they introduce themselves. If they say "Hi I'm John." Just call them John. I always say sir just out of respect to folks especially if I don' know their name. They aren't any better of a person than you and vice-versa. :)

Golden Rule - be polite.

You're question is really good, I would just put it to those present. If you were out with me and our Grand Master (head of all the Freemasons in the State) I'd bet $5 he introduce himself as Keith and nothing more grandiose; but just ask - exactly as you have done here.

Good advice from all. When I decided that I wanted to join I called a friend of over twenty five years who at that time was a Deputy District Grand Master. I asked him what I should do at this first meeting. His advice? "Just act like you have some sense". Lol.

Omg, exactly lololol. Just act like you got some sense....period. I've seen one or two clowns come in before meetings to eat dinner that were so out there we were all 'eye-cutting' at each other like, "who is this fool???"

In most jurisdictions this is unheard of. Non-members simply do not get into a (tiled) Lodge meeting. And, dress varies depending on local customs. I have never seen a suit worn in Lodge. Where are you?

I’m in Houston I wear a jacket and tie to my lodge stated meetings: at other lodges depends if routine or special (like a Masonic Grand officer visit) meeting

I think he meant to visit a lodge before a meeting. Maybe during the dinner beforehand to meet some of the members. Many lodges are trying to move towards at least coat and tie, even suits and tuxedos are becoming more common.
